Frequently asked questions

Does Gen H offer remortgages?

Yes, we do. When you remortgage with Gen H, you’ll get a free property valuation, free standard legal work with Gen H Legal, and exceptional service from our team of mortgage experts.

The entire process of remortgaging can take one to two months, but we’ll work to get you your offer in just a few days. Whenever you’re ready to remortgage the home you love, we’ll be here and ready to help.

What is covered as part of the Gen H remortgage bundle?

The remortgage bundle covers the cost of the property valuation and the conveyancing fees of Gen H Legal, our conveyancing arm, as they act for us in the process of your remortgage. In most cases, this means you won’t pay anything out of pocket for the process of remortgaging – you’ll just be responsible for things like applicable third party fees or extra legal advice. You can also choose your own conveyancer if you like, but Gen H will not cover the cost of their representation.

Any optional legal advice on your remortgage or home agreement

Third Party Costs (searches, indemnity, disbursements)

Will it cost money to add boosters to my remortgage?

Yes. When you add boosters to your mortgage, you need to obtain Independent Legal Advice (ILA). ILA is a regulated step in the mortgage process, and we can’t provide it for you. You will need to select a solicitor and pay for this advice. The cost of ILA can vary, but around the £300 mark is typical.

Can I borrow more to renovate my home?

Yes, you may be able to borrow more money for home improvements. These should be non-structural, for things like renovating a bathroom, kitchen, for decorative updates, or for essential repairs. Get in touch with us via webchat to learn more.
